It's been such a busy half term but we just wanted to sign off 2024 by saying a final thank you for your amazing support over the last couple of months. We know it's a busy time and we ask a lot from school, parents and the children at this time of year but hopefully you can agree it's all worth it when you see the excitement on the children's faces!
A special mention to all the teachers and staff at our wonderful school. With so much going on in school they've still turned up to events, supported activities and the children as incredibly as always. We appreciate every single one of you and everything you do for our children. Thank you! A huge thank you and well done must go to Miss Turner and the KS1/Reception teachers who put on a FABULOUS nativity this year. We know how much hard work goes into this but it really is the highlight of the children's year (and the parents too!). We hope you all enjoy a hard earned Christmas break.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - see you in 2025!
What we've been up to this half term...
Throwing some shapes at the Claverdon School Disco!
We kicked off the term with the ever-popular school disco. A great turnout and some impressive moves on show! The children loved seeing the teachers on the dance floor too! A really well supported event from our volunteers too who made sure the event went as smoothly as possible. This year the disco raised £630 for our school - a huge thank you Alex and Michelle for another brilliant event!
Christmas comes to Claverdon Primary School
It doesn't come busier than Christmas at school and we just want to thank everyone who supported all of the Christmas events this year. With so much going on it was all hands on deck but we really were blown away by the support and enthusiasm from all the volunteers. The Christmas Jumper Sale was the first chance to get festive and we want to thank Jessica and Jenna for helping out on the stand this year.
Operation Snowflake gets bigger and better!
In it's second year now, the not-so-secret Operation Snowflake had a lot to live up to but with incredible support from the parent community and Mr Powell we managed to transform the school in record time. We hope you all agree it looks amazing - and the children all thought it looked magical! Thank you as always to Barn Close Nurseries for the beautiful Christmas trees. You can see a few more pictures of the school transformed below.
The children were full of excitement at the Christmas Gift Shop...
The Christmas Gift Shop looked beautiful this year and with so many gifts to choose from we hope you get something you want on Christmas Day (if you - or the children - have been able to wait that long!). We had a huge army of wrappers this year which meant it was all ready in record time! A big thank you to Jules and Vicky H and Vicky J for another great gift shop and to everyone who got involved in wrapping and helping on the day too.
Christmas carols, advent window and the first ever doughnut sale
Last week saw everything get super festive at school with lots of positive feedback from the community about the Christmas carolling and advent window reveal. It's lovely to be involved in community events - one of our key objectives next year - and shine a light on both our amazing school and village community.
We finished off last week with our first doughnut sale - with the aim of alleviating some of the pressure on parents at this time of year while still giving the children something to enjoy. They went down very well by all accounts and raised over £60 for our school!
Christmas raffle - were you a winner?
The raffle was drawn this week after the (incredible!) KS1 nativity and all winners have been contacted. A big thank you to everyone who donated a colour-themed item on non-uniform day as well as all the amazing local businesses who donated a prize too. The raffle raised almost £1000 for our school so your donations really will make a huge difference to our school - thank you! Big thank you to Cheryl for taking on all the organising of this event, especially at this time of year!
This half term 100 Club raised £78 for school!
There were two 100 Club draws this half term totalling £78 in prize winnings and £78 in funds to school across both draws. Remember you can join The 100 club online at anytime - it's just £2 each month to play... you've got to be in it to win it!
Projects supported by your fundraising this half term
Faith dolls for RE resources
A part of a wider project with Mrs White to enhance the RE resources available for teaching, a collection of Children of Faith dolls were purchased.
"These dolls are meticulously designed to spark curiosity and dialogue about religious diversity. Featuring subtle faith symbols, they're an excellent resource for inclusive education."
Art/DT resources
Thanks to your support over the year we've been able to support school with purchasing new resources and supplies for their Art and DT lessons such as paint, card and coloured paper, water colours, fabric glue, ribbons, string and needlecraft supplies. We're sure these will be well used and enjoyed by the children!
Things coming up next half term...
The Gift Shop will return for Mother's Day
The Summer Fayre organisation will start early so look out for volunteer requests soon!
Second hand uniform will be moving online! We've been sorting and cataloguing stock and we are hoping that being able to purchase online will make the process easier for everyone. More info in the new year!
